Roseville and Reno.In 1905 he erected a Rocklin landmark, the two story granite
building on front street to which he subsequently moved his Palace Meat Market.

Joseph Barudoni was born “Guiseppe Barudoni” in the year of 1865 in the Canton
of Ticino, in Chironico in the Leventina Valley, Switzerland. He immigrated to
the Sierra Valley in NE California where he was involved in ranching. He married
Louise Trosi, born 1878, and settled in Rocklin, CA. He built a granite building
in Rocklin at 5250 Front Street in 1905 and opened a butcher shop at that
location. That building still stands today and is Rocklin Historical Landmark
#3. We believe that he left behind a brother and sister when he left Switzerland
and his Father may have come to America briefly, living in Salinas, CA before
returning to Switzerland. We also believe that his brother and sister died in
Switzerland and at the time of their death left some money for the foundation of
a school, which may or may not be named after them. Joseph “Guiseppe” Barudoni
died in Dec. 23, 1914 at 49 years of age and is buried in Rocklin. |
